A proposed city ordinance would require property owners who receive city incentives to accept housing vouchers as rent. The incentives in question include tax abatements and fee waivers. Property owners violating the ordinance could be required to pay the city back, and may be denied any further incentives. The new ordinance's requirement that property owners accept Section Eight and other vouchers would apply only to future construction and to renovated housing. City council may vote on the ordinance as soon as April 29th.
