Evictions May Resume In Texas As Moratorium Expires

Despite a federal moratorium on evictions, Texans who are behind on their rent are at a growing risk of being tossed out. Housing attorneys say a Texas Supreme Court order that slowed evictions is now expired. Under the Trump administration, the CDC issued a nationwide order to stop evictions through June 30th because many people lost their jobs during the pandemic. The Texas Supreme Court issued an emergency order that instructed judges statewide how to follow the federal mandate, but the order expired at the end of March.
