SpaceX launched its Starship SN11 prototype spacecraft as part of a launch and landing testing today. The craft launched into the fog this morning from its Boca Chica, Texas test site. While the launch appeared smooth, the craft broke into pieces as it was preparing to land. The Starship will play a crucial role in Elon Musk's proposed private commercial space trip scheduled for 2023, and ultimately in landing humans on the surface of Mars.
