A standoff that closed I-10 between San Antonio and Houston ended this morning with the suspect shooting himself. Police had chased the man from the Houston area to Schulenburg nearly a hundred miles away, where he was forced to pull over, but then refused to get out of the vehicle. The interstate was closed for about five hours before the man shot himself as a SWAT team closed in on him. The man died at the scene. None of the officers were injured.
