Phil Mickelson Set To Play In Valero Texas Open

Organizers of the Valero Texas Open have announced a commitment from one of golf’s greatest players, Phil Mickelson, for the event scheduled for April 1-4 in San Antonio.

The tournament will be the final PGA TOUR stop prior to the year’s first major championship, the Masters Tournament in Augusta, GA.

Mickelson, the World Golf Hall of Fame member and winner of 44 career PGA TOUR titles, will be competing in the Valero Texas Open for the first time since playing three years in a row, 2014-2016. His best finish came in 2015 when he tied for 30th. Mickelson, a five-time major championship winner, won the Masters Tournament in 2004, 2006 and 2010. He won the PGA Championship in 2005 and The Open Championship in 2013.

“We are delighted to welcome Phil back to the Valero Texas Open in a couple of weeks,” said Larson Segerdahl, Executive Director of the Valero Texas Open. “He certainly elevates the level of excitement at every tournament he competes in and I’m sure it will be no different this year at TPC San Antonio.”
