Paxton: PUC Can Retroactively Adjust Electricity Prices

Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton is giving the Public Utility Commission permission to retroactively adjust electricity prices. He published an opinion this morning saying any move would be constitutional based on the Utilities Code.

The Texas Senate passed a bill this week demanding the PUC redo prices after month's winter storms.

An independent market monitor found the Electric Reliability Council of Texas artificially kept prices high during the storm and overbilled energy companies.

Texas House Speaker Dade Phelan says he's not a fan of the Senate bill.
