Austin FC Head Coach Josh Wolff Discusses Upcoming Season

Austin FC has announced it will make its historic MLS debut on the road on Saturday, April 17, against the 2019 MLS Supporters’ Shield winners and 2020 CONCACAF Champions League runner-up, LAFC, at Banc of California Stadium in Los Angeles. The match will be broadcast nationally on FOX and FOX Deportes at 4:30pm CST.

The Club also announced that Austin FC will play its highly anticipated home opener, presented by Q2, on Saturday, June 19, against the San Jose Earthquakes in a nationally televised match on UniMás and TUDN, starting at 8:00pm CST at Q2 Stadium.

Additionally, Austin FC confirmed details for its first-ever regionally televised match which will occur when ATXFC travels to play the Colorado Rapids on Saturday, April 24 at 8:00pm CST at Dick’s Sporting Goods Park in Commerce City, Colorado.

“Our players and staff are excited to begin the journey to represent all of Austin, and today’s initial release of dates allows us to begin making plans for the earliest portion of our regular season schedule while circling June 19 for our historic home opener at Q2 Stadium,” commented Claudio Reyna, Austin FC’s Sporting Director. “April 17 will represent a new chapter in Austin history, and preparations for our inaugural season are officially under way.”

Austin FC is one (1) of 13 teams in MLS’ Western Conference, and all three (3) opponents announced as part of MLS’ initial home opener schedule release are Western Conference foes. The Club’s first-ever opponent, LAFC, features the 2019 Landon Donovan MLS MVP and 2019 MLS Golden Boot winner, Carlos Vela, and 2020 MLS Golden Boot and 2020 Young Player of the Year, Diego Rossi.

Single match ticketing information for all regular season home matches at Q2 Stadium will be released at a later date, and initial capacity estimates for the first-ever match at Q2 Stadium on June 19 will be communicated at a TBD date in May.

Austin FC will play 34 regular season MLS matches in 2021. Additional information on Austin FC’s full complete thirty-four regular season schedule, preseason and non-regular season matches, and additional television and radio broadcast information, will be released at a later date.
