Service sector employees protest lifting the COVID-19 emergency face mask mandate. The Texas Service Industry Coalition organized yesterday's event at the state Capitol in Austin. The restaurant workers say when they are at work, their lives are at risk if no one wears a face mask nor if the workers can't get vaccinated. Organizer Crystal Maher says service industry workers should at least work safely using masks and getting the vaccine since they already don't have healthcare access nor the ability to earn a living wage. Governor Greg Abbott says as of tomorrow, the mask mandate is gone and mask wearing is voluntary in Texas.
