A second member of the Public Utility Commission is stepping down from her position. A news release on Monday said Shelly Botkin has resigned, effective immediately. Gov. Greg Abbott appointed Botkin in 2018. She's the second public utility commissioner to resign recently. DeAnn Walker resigned from the chair of the commission last week. The PUC oversees the Electric Reliability Council of Texas, the state's main electric grid operator. The resignations come after public complaints about ERCOT's handling of widespread power outages during last month's winter storm.
