Valdez Has Fractured Finger

Astros pitcher Framber Valdez has a fractured left ring finger, General Manager James Click announced today.

Valdez injured the finger yesterday during his Spring Training start vs. the Mets in Port St. Lucie after being struck by a comebacker to the mound in the first inning. Valdez was able to pitch effectively after sustaining the injury.

“Following his outing, we decided to have Framber examined,” Click said. “The x-ray revealed the injury. At this point, the medical staff needs to do additional tests and imaging before deciding on the next steps. We will know more in the upcoming days.”

Yesterday’s outing was the first of the Spring for Valdez, who ended up hurling 2.0 innings.
