CPS Faces Billion-Dollar Bill For Natural Gas During Winter Storm

CPS Energy is looking at a $1 billion bill as a result of last month's winter storm, and at least part of it may be passed on to customers. The utility's CEO Paula Gold-Williams told trustees on Monday afternoon that natural gas suppliers want about $800 million, and the Electric Reliability Council of Texas wants another $200 million. She says CPS will seek help from regulators and elected officials to keep from passing the cost on to customers. Gold-Williams says the price of natural gas skyrocketed 16-thousand-percent during the crisis.
