CPS Energy's online autopay service will resume operation on Friday. The utility temporarily shut down the portal to keep customers from being billed on the basis of skyrocketing energy prices during last week's winter storm. CPS says the severe conditions caused some fuel prices to rise to record highs. The company is working on ways to keep its consumers' bills affordable despite the high fuel costs. CPS says it's waiving autopay customers' late fees for now. The company reminds customers they can unenroll from autopay.
