San Antonio ISD will start phasing students back into in-person classrooms on February 22nd, a week from next Monday. District officials made the announcement on Monday. They said their decision is based on city and county officials' announcement that the local coronavirus positivity rate is below ten-percent. At that level, schools are permitted to operate at 50-percent student capacity. SAISD Superintendent Pedro Martinez says the return of kids to class will depend on the rate's remaining below ten-percent.
