A high speed police chase ended with a shootout in San Antonio. Bexar County Sheriff Spokesman Johnny Garcia says they used spike strips to stop the vehicle, but the driver got out and pulled a pistol. The gunman was hit several times and rushed to the hospital. It happened near Jerry D. Allen Elementary School, which was placed on lockdown during the incident.
Garcia says it all started with a traffic stop in Pleasanton. A passenger was arrested, but the driver took off, firing at the officers as he fled. He was wanted on a parole violation.
