For the second year in a row, U-Haul is ranking Texas as the second-most popular state that people are moving to. Tennessee tops the list, and Florida drops from first place last year to third. Texas was the leading growth state from 2016 to 2018. U-Haul calculated the state rankings by the net gain of its rental trucks making a one-way trip to a state versus the number leaving in a calendar year. Illinois ranked 49th, and California is 50th. Top growth cities in Texas include San Marcos and New Braunfels.
