A state legislator from San Antonio wants the Texas Legislature to meet annually instead of every two-years. Lyle Larson has filed a bill that would require the legislature to meet for 70 days from March to May every year, replacing the current schedule of 140-day sessions in odd-numbered years. Larson says the Legislature's operating cost would be the same, but its efficiency would be improved, and lawmakers would be able to deal with urgent matters on a timely basis. Larson is a Republican who represents District 122.
