The population of Texas continues its rapid growth as people move here from other states. The Census Bureau says Texas added more residents than any other state this year, while California's population took a dive. Between migration and births, Texas picked up nearly 374,000 people between 2019 and 2020 for a count of more than 29,360,000. At the same time, California lost nearly 70,000 residents, the state's first major hit since 1900. Silicon Valley tech companies are also fleeing California for Texas because of the Lone Star State's business-friendly environment.
