Texas still has $2 billion in unspent COVID relief funding and only five days to use it. The state received $11 billion and has used $9 billion. Commissioner Sid Miller of the state Agriculture Department says he sent a letter to the governor with suggestions for how to spend the money, like putting it toward rural hospitals, food banks and meal home-delivery services. It's unclear if Governor Abbott will decide to follow his suggestions. Any unused funds will be returned to the Treasury Department by the end of the year.
