Texas Extends Anti-Eviction Program To Mid-March

The Texas Supreme Court is extending the state's emergency eviction relief program for tenants through at least March 15th. That pushes the program's expiration date back a month and a half. The state created the Texas Eviction Diversion Program in the fall using 171 million dollars in CARES Act funds, most of it earmarked for rental assistance. The U.S. Congress passed a stimulus bill on Monday that extends the federal moratorium on evictions until the end of January. The order had been scheduled to expire at the end of the year.
