Hearings Begin On DACA Lawsuit

A lawsuit challenging the legality of DACA is now before a federal judge in Houston. The Mexican American Legal Defense and Educational Fund says the ruling will shape how the incoming administration will handle the program, which shields some migrants from deportation. About 645-thousand migrants are enrolled in DACA, which grants work permits. To qualify, they must be enrolled in school or have a job. Texas and eight other states are suing. They argue that they will face irreparable harm if the program is allowed to continue.
