A new poll shows Texas voters are more interested in legalized casinos in the state than Texas legislators are. An Austin pollster conducted a survey last month that says 60% of likely voters support casino gambling at up to five locations in Texas. About the same number would also support casinos at existing dog and horse racetracks and on the state's three Indian reservations. They like the idea of using state taxes on casinos for education, public safety, health care and infrastructure. But the 2021 legislative session will be focused more on pandemic concerns and budget problems than on fun and games.
