Former Baylor head football coach Art Briles could be back soon in the college ranks. Briles resigned from his Mount Vernon head coaching position after the team was eliminated from the Texas High School Football playoffs in the semifinals. He turned Baylor into a national power, but was fired in May 2016 after an investigation into allegations against football players involving sexual violence and assaults. Texas Tech was reportedly interested in hiring Briles, but the school announced yesterday Matt Wells will return next year. There is a report Liberty is contemplating hiring Briles should head coach Hugh Freeze pursue other opportunities this offseason. Liberty AD Ian McCaw served as Baylor's athletic director during Briles' tenure.
