Former Correctional Officer Sentenced In Smuggling Case

A former Hidalgo County correctional officer is facing some prison time for being involved in smuggling contraband and accepting briberies. Jhaziel Loredo was sentenced to serve more than two years in prison yesterday. Loredo worked at the East Hidalgo Detention Center from October of 2018 to August of 2019. During that time, he was caught smuggling contraband into the jail, and he accepted almost two-thousand-dollars in bribes from inmates' families.
