Elf Louise Radiothon A Success

The 2020 Elf Louise Radiothon was a success, raising more than $265,000 to purchase gifts for children in need in the San Antonio Area.

It all began as a small, simple project to grant a few Christmas wishes for children in Bexar Country.

The Elf Louise Christmas Project began in 1969 when founder, Louise Locker, was a student at Trinity University in San Antonio, Texas. She found that for many San Antonio families Christmas just did not exist. That first year, with the help of a friend, she collected gifts for children of 13 families.

Since that first year, the Elf Louise Christmas Project has grown into a San Antonio tradition that brings Christmas to approximately 20,000 children each year. Gifts are chosen for each child, wrapped by our volunteers, and delivered by Santa.

Thanks to the generous donations from many WOAI listeners and the support of local businesses more than $265,000 was raised this year.
