Sales of alcoholic beverages in Bexar County bars and restaurants is off by nearly half this year compared to last year. Data from the comptroller's office show a 46-percent drop from January to October 2020 compared to 2019. The figures indicate the impact of the pandemic on local bars, restaurants, event venues, hotels and resorts. After several months of shutdown, the state allowed bars to reopen in the summer, subject to restrictions. Alcohol sales have rebounded somewhat since July, but are still well below 2019 levels.
