Gov. Greg Abbott says the Texas Department of State Health Services will distribute a COVID-19 antibody therapy to hospitals statewide. The governor announced Friday that the first shipment of Bamlanivimab will be sent to acute care hospitals across Texas as soon as this week. Bamlanivimab is for outpatient use in people who have tested positive for the virus, and it can prevent the need for hospitalization if used in time. The U.S. Department of Health and Human Services is providing the drug to Texas at no charge.
