Texas Supreme Court Sides With Governor On Ballot Drop Box Limit

The Texas Supreme Court ruled in favor of Governor Greg Abbott's limit on ballot drop-boxes yesterday. The governor's order restricts drop-boxes to only one per county, a mandate that the plaintiffs claimed put an unnecessary burden on voters in large areas. The court said Abbott actually expanded voter rights by extending the early voting period this year and allowing the drop-boxes in the first place. The plaintiffs also argued that limiting the drop-boxes would increase the risk of COVID-19 exposure, but the court did not agree.
