Proposed Ordinance Would Ban Pet Store Sales Of Animals From Puppy Mills

A proposed San Antonio city ordinance would prohibit pet stores from selling dogs acquired from breeders. City Council will consider the ordinance next Thursday. It would allow pet stores in the city limits to sell dogs and cats only if they were acquired from city or county shelters, animal control agencies, or rescue organizations. Advocates of the ordinance say it's intended to undercut commercial dog-breeding operations, often described as "puppy mills."
