Housing and Urban Development Secretary Dr. Ben Carson has a new strategy for homelessness, and he came to Austin to discuss it. Carson took part in a roundtable on Wednesday at Texas Public Policy Foundation. The discussion looked at a new strategic plan by the U.S. Interagency Council on Homelessness that focuses on mental health and alternatives to criminalizing homelessness. Austin-based nonprofit Mobile Loaves & Fishes, which seeks to help the homeless by providing meals and housing, was also involved in the talk.
