Quinnipiac Poll: Trump-Biden Tied In Texas

A new poll suggests President Donald Trump and ex-Vice President Joe Biden are tied in Texas. Quinnipiac says both candidates enjoy 47% support in Texas with one-percent saying they'll either vote for a third party candidate or don't know. A previous Quinnipiac poll from last month showed the Republican Trump lead the Democrat Biden 50% to 47%.

Likely voters have mixed views of both candidates, but opinions of Biden have improved since last month.

Today, they give Biden a mixed favorability rating, with 44% saying favorable and 46% saying unfavorable. This compares to a negative 41% to 52% favorability rating in a September 24th survey. Today, likely voters give Trump a mixed favorability rating, with 48 percent saying favorable and 47% saying unfavorable, essentially unchanged since September's 49% - 47% score.

Likely voters are also mixed on whether or not either candidate has good leadership skills. For Biden, 48% say "yes" and 46% say "no." For Trump, 49 percent say "yes" and 48% say "no."

Biden cares about average Americans, likely voters say 56% to 38%, while they are more divided on Trump, saying 51% to 47% that he cares about average Americans.

The poll also found incumbent U.S. Senator John Cornyn lead challenger MJ Hegar 49% to 43%.

Likely voters give Hegar a positive 33% to 26% percent favorability rating, while 39% say they haven't heard enough about her to form an opinion. In September, voters gave her a positive 29% to 19% favorability rating while 50% hadn't heard enough about her.

69% of likely voters say they have cast or plan to cast their ballot at an early voting location, while 18% say they plan to vote in person on Election Day and 12% say they have voted or plan to vote by mail or absentee ballot.
