Texas Adds Nearly 2 Million Voters Since 2016 Election

The Texas Secretary of State's office says a record number of Texans, nearly 17 million, are registered to vote in next month's election. That's an increase of nearly two million voters since 2016, when just over 15 million Texas residents were registered voters. An estimated 78 percent of the state's voting-age population is registered, about the same as in 2016. State officials say they expect the official count to increase in the days ahead. Early voting in Texas started on Tuesday and continues through October 30th.
