San Antonio May Add $22M To Pandemic Housing Assistance Program

San Antonio City Council may add another $22 million to the city's COVID-19 Emergency Housing Assistance Program. The program helps residents affected by the pandemic pay their mortgage, rent, and utilities. Lately the program is spending up to half-a-million-dollars a day, and is expected to run dry late this month or early in October. City staff believe the extra funding would keep the program afloat until sometime in December. But they want to cap how much assistance people can receive and tighten income requirements in an effort to help the people who need it the most.
