The San Antonio City Council may soon vote on a new source of funding for the Edwards Aquifer Protection Program. Council members could vote by next week to approve borrowing 100-million-dollars to fund the program for up to ten-years, starting in fiscal 2023. New funding is needed because the program faces the loss of a sales tax that's paid for it for 20 years. City officials and VIA Metropolitan Transit hope residents will vote in November to redirect the sales tax to a workforce development program and the transit system.
