The A's played under smoky skies amid the California wildfires as they walked off on the Astros 3-2 in Oakland. Ramon Laureano singled in the winning run in the ninth to end it. Tommy La Stella tied it with a two-run double in the seventh. Jesus Luzardo worked seven innings for the first-place A's and Liam Hendricks got the win. Luis Garcia tossed five shutout innings for Houston, but the bullpen faltered and Ryan Pressly took the loss. George Springer and Yuli Gurriel homered in defeat.
