Texas Receives Federal Grant To Fight Violence Against Women

Texas is receiving a federal grant to combat violence against women. The Justice Department's Office of Violence Against Women announced the grant of more than $18 million.

The pandemic has led to an increase in domestic violence. Almost $12 million will support the police who arrest abusers and the courts that prosecute them. Another three-million will go to organizations providing legal services for victims. Just over half-a-million dollars will support shelters for abused women.
