A San Antonio police officer was stabbed by a shoplifting suspect at an H-E-B store this afternoon, leading to the officer shooting the suspect to death during the struggle.
Police Chief William McManus says the attack on the officer was vicious and the officer is in serious condition. The suspect died at the scene. No one else was injured.
The store in the 2100 block of Fredericksburg Road is being closed tonight during the investigation and will reopen tomorrow.
