Houston Preparing For Tropical Storm Laura

Houston officials want people to be prepared with Tropical Storm Laura churning near the Gulf of Mexico

Houston Mayor Sylvester Turner says people shouldn't waste time getting ready by monitoring weather reports and getting ready for wind.

The mayor notes people will probably not see barricades on streets, but adds people need to avoid any streets which may flood out. Turner encourages people to have non-perishable food in case power goes out and water. He also says people need to add masks, hand sanitizer, and wipes to hurricane preparedness kits due to the coronavirus pandemic.

Laura is expected to make landfall on Wednesday night.
