More Rural Coronavirus Patients Being Flown To San Antonio-Area Hospitals

Medevac crews say they're flying more coronavirus patients from rural areas to San Antonio-area hospitals lately.

AirLIFE reports 72 transfers of pandemic patients to their bases in San Antonio, Kerrville, Pleasanton and Uvalde since March. Company officials says that's 25-percent more transfers than what they usually handle at this time of year.

One flight paramedic says transfers usually involve strokes, heart attacks, or traffic accidents. He says about a third of their calls since March have been coronavirus patients.
