Austin Mayor: Fear Leading To Proposal On Police Funding

Austin Mayor Steve Adler says Texas's top political leaders want to tie property taxes to police funding because of fear. Adler denies the City Council cut the police department budget last week, insisting the funds are being shifted to civilian control. Adler says APD has plenty of officers and emergency response will not be affected. He says Texas leaders are distorting the facts to keep people scared.

Governor Greg Abbott announced Tuesday he supports a bill that would require property taxes be frozen if police departments are defunded.
