Bexar County Parks Will Be Closed On Labor Day Weekend

Metro Health officials are reporting 43,455 cases of coronavirus in Bexar County. The total includes 291 new cases that were reported on Wednesday. Officials also reported 26 new deaths, bringing the county's death toll to 545. The number of local coronavirus hospitalizations in the county continues to decline, and is now 710.

Mayor Ron Nirenberg says the city is making strides in slowing the spread, but urged residents to continue to wear masks and to socially-distance.

During Wednesday's daily pandemic briefing, Bexar County Judge Nelson Wolff announced the closure of county parks from midnight on Friday, September 4th, to midnight on Monday, September 7th. San Antonio Mayor Ron Nirenberg made a similar announcement on Wednesday concerning city parks. Nirenberg said he was concerned about the possibility of large crowds in the parks for the holiday weekend during the ongoing coronavirus pandemic.
