San Antonio City Council is looking into a one-eighth-cent sales tax as a means to fund a workforce development program.
On Wednesday, council members discussed setting up a four-year program that would spend $154 million in local tax money on job training, education, and other services for participants.
Mayor Ron Nirenberg sees the program as a way to help the city bounce back from the pandemic. San Antonio voters would have to approve of the tax. Council has until August 17th to get the issue onto the November ballot.
