Settlement Reached In Lawsuit Over Draining Four Guadalupe Valley Lakes

A settlement is being reported in a lawsuit against the Guadalupe-Blanco River Authority by lakeside property owners in the Guadalupe Valley. The agency announced last August that it planned to drain four of its six lakes because of safety concerns over their aging dams. A judge put a temporary stop to the plan last September in order to hear from lawyers on both sides. Thursday's settlement addresses questions of dam repairs and spillgate replacement. The agency will continue to maintain the lakes, and the residents are setting up Water Control Improvement Districts to fund construction of new dams.
