President Donald Trump wants to delay the presidential election in November over concerns of voter fraud and mail-in voting. Trump made the suggestion on Twitter on Thursday (July 30) morning. He said that "Mail-In Voting is already proving to be a catastrophic disaster," and warned that "Mail-In Voting is an easy way for foreign countries to enter the race."
"With Universal Mail-In Voting (not Absentee Voting, which is good), 2020 will be the most INACCURATE & FRAUDULENT Election in history," Trump wrote on Twitter. "It will be a great embarrassment to the USA. Delay the Election until people can properly, securely and safely vote???"
To prove his point, Trump shared a video segment on mail-in voting from Georgia news stations WRDW. He also said that mail-in voting in New York has been a disaster.
"New York Mail-In voting is in a disastrous state of condition. Votes from many weeks ago are missing - a total mess," Trump tweeted. "They have no idea what is going on. Rigged Election. I told you so. Same thing would happen, but on massive scale, with USA. Fake News refuses to report!"
While Trump may want to delay the election on November 3, he can't do it without Congress. The Constitution gives Congress the power to set the date of the election, and there is no indication that the House of Representatives, which is controlled by the Democrats, has any intention of pushing back the election.
