Governor Greg Abbott is directing 118 million federal dollars to support higher education in Texas. The governor announced on Wednesday that the funds will help students continue their progress toward a degree or a credential. Varying amounts will go to retraining displaced workers in high-demand fields, to emergency support for students who have been affected by the pandemic, and to upgrading online education. The outlays come from the Governor's Emergency Education Relief Fund made available through the national CARES Act.
