Abbott: No State Shutdown Will Be Needed If People Mask Up

Governor Greg Abbott says a shutdown of the state economy won't be necessary if Texans will wear masks. Speaking in an interview on KPRC TV on Wednesday, Abbott quoted the head of the CDC, who said it would be possible to get the pandemic under control if everybody would wear masks for the next four-weeks. He compared that to the length of time he spent in the hospital after he broke his back in 1984. The governor said the Texas Education Agency is giving local school districts flexibility to reopen their schools in the classroom, online, or both.
