The city of Houston is suing to keep the Texas General Land Office from taking control of Harvey disaster relief funds. The city is asking the court for a temporary restraining order to stop the state agency from seizing more than a billion-dollars in Housing and Urban Development money. HUD provided the funds in 2018 to help Houston homeowners whose homes were damaged by Harvey. In April, GLO Commissioner George P. Bush notified Mayor Sylvester Turner that the office was taking charge because Houston hadn't done enough with the recovery funds.
