The gloves are off in the Democratic runoff to see who will challenge incumbent GOP U.S. Senator John Cornyn in November. Air Force veteran MJ Hegar and State Senator Royce West got into it on Monday night in a half-hour debate on TV. The two started out with partisan sniping at Cornyn and President Donald Trump. Before it was over, Hegar accused West of being part of politics as usual, and West suggested Hegar was a Democrat out of convenience. At the end, Hegar declared that Cornyn had won the debate.
