Some doctors with the Methodist Healthcare System claim there are patients still in emergency rooms waiting for hospital beds. In a press conference on Monday afternoon, Dr. Jairo Melo, the system's director of Critical Care, said there were 21 coronavirus patients in the Methodist Hospital ER waiting for beds, whether in ICU or otherwise. Dr. Charles Burch, the associate director of Critical Care, said the increase in coronavirus cases is bound to result in more hospitalizations. A Methodist Healthcare spokeswoman said the doctors had organized the press conference without the system's knowledge or consent.
