State Teachers' Union Head Says Schools Should Require Masks This Fall

The head of the state teachers' union says the state should require students and teachers to wear masks on school campuses this fall. Texas State Teachers Association President Noel Candelaria announced Tuesday that Governor Greg Abbott and Texas Education Agency Commissioner Mike Morath are both refusing to order school districts to issue mask mandates. Candelaria says a state order is necessary to keep kids and teachers safe in schools, which he claims are being "forced to reopen prematurely."
