Harris County DA Drops Charges Against Nearly 800 Protesters

Nearly 800 protesters arrested during recent marches in Houston won't face charges. Harris County District Attorney Kim Ogg announced on Tuesday that 796 cases had been dismissed against protesters arrested for civil disobedience. The cases dismissed were for nonviolent misdemeanors, mostly trespassing and obstructing traffic. Still to face trial are 51 adults and a juvenile, who are charged with 19 felonies and 35 misdemeanors. The charges range from weapons offenses to aggravated assault of an officer.
